Our Governance

Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors is comprised of eleven exceptional individuals with expertise in substantive areas that support the work that we do. In addition, they have legal and fiscal responsibility over the organization. The Board meets in person on a quarterly basis and holds monthly telephone conference meetings.

Policy Council

Our Policy Council is comprised of migrant and seasonal farmworker parents whose children attend our program. These dedicated moms and dads have been elected to their position on the Policy Council by other moms and dads.

The Board of Directors and Policy Council have independent areas of responsibility, but share governing responsibility with respect to ten issues as defined by federal regulation. The Board and Policy Council hold a governance meeting each year to carry out their shared responsibilities.

The Board of Directors, the Policy Council, and the East Coast Migrant Head Start Project Management Team share decision making about the nature and operation of the organization.

East Coast Migrant Head Start Project is committed to preparing the children of migrant and seasonal farm workers for success.  We do this by providing holistic, high quality early childhood education services for children and families in a nurturing, culturally sensitive environment and by providing services and advocating for children and families in their other areas of need.
