Juvencio Rocha-Peralta

Vice President of the Board of Directors

Juvencio Rocha Peralta, Jr., originally from Veracruz, Mexico, has been a resident of North Carolina since 1980. Over the past 35 years, he has emerged as a prominent community advocate and leader both locally and internationally. In 2001, he founded and has since served as the Executive Director of the Association of Mexicans in North Carolina, Inc. (AMEXCAN).

Mr. Rocha-Peralta's commitment to community service is evident through his involvement in numerous Task Forces and Boards addressing the needs of various communities. He is the Founder and President of The Eastern North Carolina Latin-American Coalition Inc., a Board Member of the Martin-Pitt Partnership for Children, and a member of the National Advisory Board of the Institute of Emerging Issues (IEI), among other roles. He also serves as a Board Member for East Coast Migrant Head Start Project, the North Carolina Rural Center, Disability Rights NC, and is a member of the Rural North Carolina Latino HIV/AIDS Task Force Initiative.

Throughout his career, Juvencio Rocha-Peralta, Jr. has received multiple awards recognizing his unwavering commitment to community service, including the Best-Irons Humanitarian Award, the American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina Award, the International Human Rights Award, and the North Carolina Justice Center Defender of Justice Award, among others. Notably, he received the Otli Award in 2002, the highest recognition presented by the Secretary of the State of the Exterior of Relations of Mexico to a Mexican citizen residing in the USA, in acknowledgment of his dedication and service to the Mexican residents of North Carolina.
